City Hall

131 Duane Street
New York, NY

Ranking: 3

City Hall, known for it's raw bar and seafood, is seriously under rated when it comes to burgers. We are shocked that this burger does not appear on more NYC burger lists. The burger, a mix of short rib and brisket, is nicely charred on the outside providing a nice crunch, while remaining juicy, tender and chewy on the inside. The burger is served with onion, lettuce and tomato. The bun is an onion bun which holds up well and provides a flavor that nicely accents the burger. Served with fries, this nicely portioned meal is certain to fill you up and leave you satisfied.

City Hall Burger

It took a while, but I finally had the burger at City Hall yesterday.  My favorite burger up till then had been Dumont Burger in Brooklyn, but City Hall's version made me an instant convert.  Their burger is REALLY BIG; mine was cooked perfectly to order, and it came on a sturdy onion roll with a slice of tomato and a slice of raw onion, both on the side.  I added bacon (I add bacon to everything) and cheddar cheese, and the result was something to make you swoon.  The fries, unfortunately, were only OK, mostly crisp but a little soggy. I very much liked the two pickle slices (one dill, one half sour), and the added flourish of a full bottle of ketchup along with two ramekins, one filled with mustard and the other with mayo. For the money, this might be the best meal deal in all of New York City.

City Hall: A terrific burger

One of my favorites thus far.  A really big burger. I'd suggest with cheese and bacon. The carmelized onions were very good but made the bread a little too soggy  so I'd skip them next time (besides burger already comes on an onion roll). Nicely done.  Nice digs for lunch.
