Review:

For all the old time Corner Bistro lovers out there who can’t understand why the Bistro burger just isn’t the same as it used to be….. It’s because the head burger chef left the Bistro and is now in the employ of the fine folks over at the Stoned Crow. The two establishments have a lot in common; both neighborhood bars popular with the young NYC West Village crowds looking for a drink and a burger at the end of a long day of work. Very much in the style of The Babe leaving Boston and coming to the Yankees - becoming a hero for NY and a curse for Boston, the effects here seem to be NY history repeating itself. The result is a big thumbs up for The Stoned Crow. The "Crow Burger" on the menu is "a ½ lb of ground beef topped with american or cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, white onion and pickles on the side". While the Crow Burger can not compete with some of the high end steakhouse burgers that we review in terms of meat quality, simply because the steak houses tend to use high quality cuts of flavorful meat, they also don’t come with the high price tag of the big steak house burger ($12 as compared to $20+ at some of the stake houses). In terms of bang for the buck, Stoned Crow has hit an extra base hit here. You can also wear your torn jeans and old tee-shirt to the crow. Enjoy!

Chef Transfer?

I heard of rumor that the guy who used to cook the burgers at Corner Bistro left and went to Stoned Crow.  Is that true?  It would explain why the burgers at Corner Bistro have gone WAY down hill over the past few years and while I really enjoyed the burger at Stoned Crow... and why it reminded me of the Bistro Burger of the past.
